POLICE have revealed that a 15-year-old stab victim was not attacked by a third party.
Earlier today officers said they had launched a major hunt after the girl told them she had been stabbed in the stomach.
The girl told officers a man wearing a scarf covering his face had stabbed her in Keighley Road, Colne, near to the town's cricket club at 4.40pm yesterday.
An ambulance was called and police say paramedics discovered a minor stab wound to the girl's abdomen. She was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
However, police issued a statement this afternoon saying that the incident was "no longer being treated as first reported".
A police spokesman said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the reported incident."
