A brand new home fragrance shop is opening in Blackburn this weekend and the owners want to create a “shopping experience” for their customers.

Delilah Chloe will be opening on Bolton Road in Blackburn tomorrow (13 November) from 10am to 5pm.

Kirsty Elmer, who owns the business along with her partner, Carl, said she is “really excited” about the shop’s opening after operating from her Blackburn home for over a year.

She explained: “We’re opening the door to everyone and we’re going to have a lot of celebrations.

“We’re planning a big opening that we are in the middle of setting up now and making sure everything is ready for it.

“We’re also doing a special offer for every order that’s £25 or more where people will receive a free wax melt.”

According to Kirsty, the business can be described as a “luxury yet affordable” independent brand who make everything by hand.

Wax melts, reed diffusers, bath salts and more are up for sale in the shop and on the website.

The small company even scooped a ‘new business of the year’ award at the Hive Awards, the winners of which were announced in October.

These awards celebrate Blackburn with Darwen businesses who go through a rigorous judging process, including written submissions which were scored by an independent panel, followed by group interviews for most of the award categories.

The couple began the business in March 2020 and are now looking to expand it with the ultimate goal of going nationwide.

Kirsty said: “We have moved out to the shop down the road and we can run our business from here now, so it just makes sense for us to open the shop in Blackburn as that’s where our business was born from.

“It’s something we’ve thought about for a long while so it’s been a long time coming.

“I just think opening the shop allows people to come and be able to experience the fragrances and smell them and actually touch and feel them.

“I think that’s important as you don’t always know what you’re ordering online.

“Hopefully, it will also bring a lot of new customers to us as well who might not know about our online shop.”

Kirsty said she really wants to focus on the customer’s overall shopping experience with the new shop.

Ms Elmer said: “We want it to be something just a little bit different and a place that people want to travel to from other towns – and we would make it worth their while too.

“We want it to be a shopping experience. For instance, we’re going to eventually set up a coffee machine so people can browse with a drink.”

“It would be lovely for people to come down and see us.”
