A Lancashire campsite has received special recognition after being named one of the best campsites in the UK.
The AA has revealed the UK’s top campsites and caravanning destinations with the announcement of the 2021 Caravan and Camping Award winners in a virtual ceremony.
Returning for the first time since 2019, the caravan and camping awards celebrate those camping and caravan sites offering guests the most comfortable and welcoming stays in the UK.
The AA has named Archer's Red Bank Farm in Bolton-le-Sands, near Lancaster, small campsite of the year 2021-2022.
As well as static holiday homes, the site also has space for motor homes, tents and they have a family run café on site too.
Mark Archer, part owner of the campsite, said: “We’re delighted to have won the award.
“It was unexpected but nice as it’s been a lot of hard work over lockdown.”
Mark added that the family took the opportunity over lockdown to make some improvements and renovations on site, such as making it more weather friendly for instance.
Mark added: “The award shows we are heading in the right direction with our thinking.”
Mr Archer explained that they are a family orientated campsite who “try to keep a tight control over the noise and try hard to keep everything clean.”
He added: “The campsite itself overlooks Morecambe Bay so you’re overlooking the Lake District hills.”
Plenty of other campsites across the UK have also been acknowledged in the awards and the overall winner was revealed as South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park, Poole, Dorset.
The North West’s winner went to Lamb Cottage Caravan Park in Cheshire.
Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Media said “We are delighted to announce the winners of the Caravan and Camping Awards 2021 and have the opportunity to celebrate those sites offering holidaymakers the highest quality camping and caravanning experiences.
“As the hospitality industry has reopened over the past few months, we have seen British tourists exploring the UK more than ever, enjoying incredible campsites and caravan parks across the country. We hope that our latest Caravan and Camping Guide helps them discover even more fantastic holiday destinations, including our wonderful winners.”
