Coronation Street star Sam Aston has an exciting life update – he is expecting a second child with his wife, Briony.
The Lancashire actor made the announcement on social media yesterday (13 October) when he posted a picture to his Instagram feed.
In the picture their 14-month-old child, Sonny James Aston, is seen surrounded by pumpkins and holding a sign which reads: “We’re adding another pumpkin to our patch. Due spring 2022”.
Briony, who runs Happy Baby Studio in Crawshawbooth, also shared the same picture to her Instagram page but captioned it with a star emoji.
At the time of writing, Sam’s post has amassed over 17,500 likes and his Instagram followers were delighted by the news.
Fellow Coronation Street actress, Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Bradley), said: “Oh my! Congratulations to you both”.
Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster in the same show, exclaimed: "Ahhhhhhhhh congratulations."
Another person wrote commented on the child's likeness to his father, writing: “[Sonny] is so much like dad. Massive congrats to you”.
“So so happy for you both,” started another. “Cannot wait to meet baby Aston number two”.
Sam and Briony, who live in Rossendale, welcomed their first child as a couple just last year.
Sonny was born in August 2020 and the couple shared a photo of him to Instagram.
28-year-old Sam wrote: “Welcome to the world little man. Our little ray of sunshine. Sonny James Aston”.
Speaking to a magazine, Sam said it was a “bit of a shock” when Sonny was born prematurely.
He said: “Just watching this tiny baby, who was six weeks premature, grow and now be doing so well is amazing. It’s such a roller coaster.”
Sam has played Chesney Brown in Coronation Street since 2003.
His job role has prepared him for fatherhood as his character became a father-of-five in 2019 when his partner Gemma Winter gave birth to quadruplets.
