A picture taken at the scene of a crash shows the devastating damage caused to a house after a car ploughed straight through the front window.

In the early hours of Monday morning, emergency services were called to a house in Poulton-le-Fylde after a car, believed to be a BMW, smashed into the front of a house.

The structure was left unsafe and the driver of the car was taken to hospital, but now, the fire service have issued a warning about the need to stick to road speed limits.

On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the brigade said: "On Monday morning, crews from Blackpool fire station attended this incident in Poulton.

"The structure was left unsafe and the driver needed treatment from paramedics.

"This is a great reminder why you should stick to speed limits."

The incident happened just after 1am and at 1.07am three fire crews and the urban search and rescue team were sent to Highcross Road in Poulton to respond to the crash.

The spokesperson for the fire service added: "The incident involved a car which had collided with a domestic property.

"One casualty was released from the car by crews and then handed over to the care of paramedics.

"Crews remained at the scene around one hour and forty minutes."

A police cordon and road closure were put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.
