DETECTIVES investigating serious and organised drugs and firearms crime have charged eight people, including a teenager.

Arrests took place at addresses across Preston on Wednesday, in relation to the supply of class A drugs, and a shooting which happened on Sunday, February 21, where a handgun was fired through the window of a house on Dallas Street.

Fortunately, no-one was injured in that incident.

Eight people have now been charged and were due to appear in court today.

Det Ch Insp Zoe Russo from Preston Police said: “These arrests and charges are a result of months of meticulous police work and are part of our pledge to keep our communities safe and build resilience against serious and organised crime

“We are aware of the corrosive effect this has on individuals and communities, many of these perpetrators believe they are above the law.

"We are determined to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

"My message is clear; if you are embroiled in dealing drugs or using firearms, we will find you.

“I want to thank the communities for their continued support, please continue to work with us to let us know who these people are and what they are involved in.

"Also, if you suspect that drugs are being circulated in your area, share what you know with us.”
