POLICE have sent officers - mounted and on foot - to patrol the Daneshouse area of Burnley following an incident earlier this week.

At around 10.45pm on Tuesday (September 28) night, an incident of public disorder on Abel Street left a man requiring hospital treatment.

His injuries are not life-threatening and the two parties are believed to be known to each other, with no wider threat to the public.

However, the police have said that they will increase officer numbers in the area 'over the next few days' to reassure any concerned residents.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson said: "We know that incidents like this will be of concern to residents and businesses in the area. So, as a precaution and to ensure everybody continues to feel safe, we will have officers and police horses in the area over coming days.

"If you see an officer, feel free to say hello. If you have any information about the incident which might be helpful to us, feel free to pass it on to them. Alternatively – especially if you have any CCTV covering the Abel Street area last night – call 101, quoting log 1513 of September 29, 2021."
