THREE teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of the street murder of 19-year old man in Todmorden.

The victim, who has not yet been named by police, was stabbed in what police believe may have been a revenge attack as he walked from a kebab shop.

Three Todmorden teenagers, two aged 17 and one aged 18, were arrested on Thursday in connection with the investigation.

The 19-year old was found lying in Brook Street, Todmorden close to the Post office at 9.15pm on Wednesday.

He later died from his injuries at Rochdale Infirmary.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday revealed he was killed by a stab wound to the chest.

Police recovered a car in the town on Thursday night after inquiries, and it was due to undergo a full forensic examination today.

Detective Superintendent Chris Thompson, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "From our inquiries so far we believe the victim had been to get food from a local takeaway and was walking along Water Street with two friends when they were confronted by two men.

"The victim and his friends are believed to have split up and run off. It appears that the attack may have continued into Brook Street where the victim was found."
