A 10-day-old baby boy died in hospital after being found unresponsive in a house.
Police were called by the ambulance service at around 2.05am on Tuesday after they attended an address where a baby had been found unresponsive.
The child, who was in a property in Lockside Road in Preston was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly died a short time later.
His death is being treated as 'unexplained'.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called by the ambulance service at around 2.05am on Tuesday, September 21 to reports a ten-day-old boy had been found unresponsive at an address on Lockside Road, Preston.
"He was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and our enquiries are ongoing."
