Blackburn Rovers have donated football kits to Syrian children in Jordan.

The kits were presented to the children who are presently living as refugees in Jordan. It comes as Rovers announced a new partnership with local charity Benefit Mankind.

The charity provide aid and support to projects in 12 countries across the globe, with the aim of improving lives, alleviating poverty, transforming and empowering local communities, whilst championing humanity, impartiality and independence.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We would like thank the management, the football players and the fans of Blackburn Rovers Football Club for making this difference.”

Throughout the course of the season, the chosen charity will benefit from fundraising and awareness activities, including a dedicated matchday at Ewood Park and support from player ambassador Bradley Johnson.

The midfielder, who was named Rovers’ Community Champion in 2020, has previously worked with the charity when he delivered over 5,000 face masks to care homes and hospices across Blackburn with Darwen following the outbreak of Covid-19.

Benefit Mankind, who assisted with the PPE delivery, also donated food packs for staff and residents at each East Lancashire organisation, as well as warm clothing for the homeless and set up a helpline number for the elderly and vulnerable.

Dr Abdussamad Mulla, Chief Executive of Benefit Mankind, says the organisation are proud to be partnering with the football club and is looking forward to the exciting opportunities that will arise in the season ahead.

He said: “We are delighted that Blackburn Rovers have chosen Benefit Mankind as one of the charities to support for the coming season.

“As a local charity, to partner with such a respected club in the town is sensational and will help bring in support for local struggling families at a time when they need it the most.

“We also hope that the partnership will help us to raise awareness of our projects in the local area. Our work will involve support towards domestic violence, homeless projects, keyworkers appreciation and much more over the coming season.

“We are looking forward to work together to help make a wider difference and to benefit mankind.”
