Woman suffers four fractures to eye socket in attack outside town centre wine bar

Police are appealing for information after the woman, in her 40s, and a man, in his 30s, were attacked outside Hartleys Wine Bar in Preston around 12.30am on Sunday September 12. 

The couple had been on a night out and were standing on the balcony area of the bar, on Mount Street, as another group of people were being escorted from the premises.

A woman who was part of the group grabbed the female victim’s hair and a male from the group then punched her to the face. She fell to the floor and was then kicked to the face.

The male victim attempted to intervene but was punched by the man.

Thankfully his injuries were not serious, however the female victim attended hospital and it was found she had four fractures to her eye socket which will require surgery.

The female offender is described as being around 5ft 3ins tall, with dark-coloured hair.

The male offender is described as being stocky, over 6ft tall, with short, light-coloured hair which is shaved at the sides. He was wearing a blue jumper.

It is estimated he was aged in his 40s or 50s.

DC Laura Fagan, of Preston CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack, carried out by strangers on a couple who were simply enjoying a night out.

“The two victims have been left extremely shaken and the female victim has facial fractures which will need surgery.

“We are determined to find those responsible and are asking with information about the assault to get in touch with us.

"Maybe you saw all or part of it, perhaps you captured some of it on your mobile phone or maybe you think you know who was responsible.

“Whatever you know, please get in touch with us straight away.”
