A Blackburn performer, best known for his Elton John tribute act, has organised an epic tribute artist festival in a bid to raise money for charity.

Andy Crosbie, of Revidge, says the “fantastic” event will feature five local tribute artists playing the songs and getting into the characters of Take That, Pink!, George Michael, Elton John and Cher.

55-year-old Andy said: “We haven’t been able to perform for 15 months and we decided to put on an event that is more family based and where families can go to have a good day.

“We’ve  also dragged in all the main acts from the Lancashire area so they are all local too.”

As well as live performance, guests can also tuck into a snack at the food courts and visit the fun fair.

As it is an outdoor event, guests are encouraged to bring camping chairs, tables and blankets with them.

However, it is more than just an event and the aim is to raise “as much money as possible” for a charity called Miles For Mitchie.

Volunteers will also be collecting money for the charity throughout the day and a percentage of ticket sales will be going towards the charity too.

Andy hopes to raise £6000 in total.

Brave little Mitchell Brown, from Longridge, was diagnosed with cancer back in 2016; he was just three years old.

Mitchell had a nine hour operation, six weeks of radiotherapy and four months of chemotherapy to tackle Medulloblastoma.

He will need constant check ups to make sure the cancer hasn’t returned and he also still experiences side effects of the tumours, surgery and treatment to this day.

Miles for Mitchie is an organisation who raise money to help fight cancer and support a small group of charitable organisations who have been instrumental in supporting Mitchie and his family.

Andy, who is undergoing cancer treatment himself, is no stranger to fundraising for cancer charities and has put on hundreds of shows in his free time.

He said he was eager to support Miles for Mitchie in any way he could.

Andy explained: “My aim after I started receiving treatment for cancer is to give back so I contacted the cricket club and they were happy to have a charity club included.

“I thought this is my opportunity to help raise money for cancer again as well as putting on a full blown festival for the people of Blackburn to enjoy with a big outdoor stage and amazing acts.”
