One person has been taken to hospital and five treated at the roadside following a crash between two cars.
Both carriageways between Barnoldswick and Foulridge were closed on Sunday afternoon following the crash.
At around 1.40pm, emergency services were called to the A56 Skipton New Road at the junction of Causeway after receiving reports of a road traffic collision.
The crash is believed to have happened on the northbound carriageway, but police closed both lanes from Barnoldswick through to Foulridge.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Due to an incident on the A56 junction of Causeway and Skipton Road, we will be closing both carriageways from Barnoldswick through to Foulridge.
"Please avoid the area and plan an alternative route.
"Thank you for your co-operation at this time."

Two fire engines were called to the scene, along with the ambulance service, who assisted firefighters in releasing a trapped person from one of the cars.
A fire service spokesperson said: "Two fire engines from Colne were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars on Skipton New Road, Foulridge, Colne.
"Firefighters worked with the ambulance service to release one person from a vehicle who was later taken to hospital.
"A further five people were given precautionary check-ups at the scene."
