THE bodies of a man and a woman have been found at a house in Nelson.
Lancashire police have said that the deaths are being treated as 'unexplained' and their Force Major Investigation Team have launched an investigation.
The bodies were found at an address on Rakeshouse Road in Nelson just after 1pm yesterday afternoon.
Post-mortem examinations are due to take place today along with work to formally identify the victims.
The East Lancashire Coroner has been informed.
Det Supt Graham Herrmann, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We have launched an investigation following the discovery of two bodies at an address in Nelson and inquiries are continuing to try and establish the circumstances.
"We are in the early stages of the investigation and we are keeping an open mind about what may have happened and our thoughts are with the families of the two deceased."
