A man appeared in court today charged with criminal damage, obstructing the railway and two charges of breaching a youth anti-social behaviour order, following an incident on Accrington's railway viaduct.
Anthony Armstrong, 23, from Badge Brow, Oswaldtwistle, was detained under the Mental Health Act.
He appeared at Hyndburn Magistrates where he was remanded in custody until January 11, when he will appear at Blackburn Magistrates.
He was arrested after a man climbed onto the viaduct at about 4am on Tuesday.
Motorists and commuters faced long delays after railway lines and Eagle Street were closed for safety reasons while the man was on the bridge.
