After a lengthy hike and hours of walking, a great way to reward yourself is with a pint at the pub.

Luckily for you, we have compiled a list of five East Lancashire walks which all have a pub on route.

If you’re heading out for a walk to enjoy the last of the summer  (or rain in Lancashire’s case) then make sure to consider hiking along one of these routes:

The Aspinall Arms walk, Mitton, Clitheroe

This walking route is circular and it starts and ends at The Aspinall Arms in Clitheroe.

The Aspinall Arms is a 19th Century coaching Inn, that sits on the banks of the River Ribble, overlooking the All Hallows’ Medieval Church and Great Mitton Hall.

However, before you can enjoy the pub’s open fires and wooden floors you first need to take on the walk.

Leave the pub car park via the vehicle entrance. Turn le! for a few paces and then le! again through a wooden kissing gate to join the signed footpath, the Ribble Way.

From here you will pass fields, moorland and walk alongside the River Ribble.

You can find the full route over on the Visit Ribble Valley website:

Pendle Inn pub, Barley Village, Burnley

If you have ever visited Pendle Hill you will already know how stunning the landscape is.

This particular route will take  almost 2.5 hours to complete.

A gentle start to the walk past the Ogden reservoirs then leads into a grassy stroll before crossing bracken covered moorland.

The climbing then starts in earnest, with ever expanding views afforded as more height gained.

From the summit even Blackpool tower and the Lakeland fells can all be seen on a clear day. The walk then proceeds down the much walked steps back towards Barley.

The Pendle Inn pub in Burnley is a feature on the walk.

Sunnyhurst pub, Darwen

This gorgeous walk allows you to take in some fantastic views of the Darwen Moors countryside.

It starts from Sunnyhurst Wood Lychgate car park.

From here you will encounter the Earnsdale Reservoir constructed in 1854 to supply Darwen water.

Continue along the farm track passing Higher Wenshead Farm on your left going through a farm gate.

You will also follow a path which leads up to Darwen Tower.

Towards the end of the walk you will pass Sunnyhurst Public House on Tockholes Road.

The Clog and Billycock, Blackburn

The Clog and Billycock has been in the village for over 150 years and makes the perfect spot for your post-walk refreshments.

Although barely two miles from the centre of Blackburn, the Clog and Billycock is situated in a delightful rural location with superb views across the Ribble Valley to the Bowland Fells.

The walking route performs a simple loop around the surrounding countryside, with rolling fields, woodland and one of Lancashire's best viewpoints.

The full walking route can be found on All Trails.

Waddington Arms, Clitheroe

As well as offering a refreshing welcome, great ales and delicious food, The Waddington Arms is ideal start for a multitude of walks.

From a gentle countryside amble, to challenging hikes up into the fells to the north of the village, there truly is a walk for everyone.

From the Waddington Arms, head over the bridge, past the church and right at pub, then, after 50 yards, right again up driveway, through gate then left over footbridge and over stile.

From here, you will encounter some lush woodland and also encounter some farmland.

You will end up back at the Waddington Arms.
