A Darwen teenager who borrowed a car belonging to his friend's dad so he could go home and get changed crashed into a parked car.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Benjamin Nelson and four passengers were seen to get out of the vehicle and run away after the crash in Olive Lane.
But police were quickly on the trail and arrived at the home of the registered keeper to find Nelson still out of breath.
Nelson, 19, of Holden Fold, admitted failing to stop and failing to report an accident, and driving without insurance or licence.
He was ordered to pay £350 compensation to the owner of the parked car and had his licence endorsed.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said that the owner of the car was spoken to at a party in the Royal Oak.
He said he had lent Nelson the car after he assured him he had a licence and insurance.
Liz Parker, defending, said that after the collision, Nelson had panicked and ran off.
"The police did breathalyse him and it was negative," said Mrs Parker.
