A man was due to appear in court today charged with trespassing on the railways following an incident on Accrington's railway viaduct.
Anthony Armstrong, 23, from Accrington, was detained under the Mental Health Act.
He was arrested after a man evaded police attempts to talk to him on Railway Road, and then climbed onto the viaduct at about 4am.
The man was talked off the bridge by police negotiators just after 8am yesterday.
Police said Armstrong had been charged with trespassing and was due to appear before Burnley Magistrates.
Motorists and commuters faced long delays after railway lines and Eagle Street were closed for safety reasons while the man was on the bridge.
