THE practice manager of a Burnley-based dentists has won a prestigious national award for the second time running.
Sophie Etherington of Mydentist in Padiham Road won practice manager of the year at the Dental Awards 2021, another scoop after winning the same title in the Dental Awards last year.
The 29-year-old said that she was blown away after attending the The Dental Awards' virtual ceremony which consistently recognise the very best in UK dentistry.
Sophie said: "I can't believe I have won another award for just doing my work. I have an amazing support network around me and it's all part of my job."
The awards were judged on how the manager has made a difference to the practice and its patients, as well as procedures put in place to ensure maximum benefit.
The practice manager of the year is one of the original and most respected awards programmes in UK dentistry, it has gained added prestige and the awards are also presented by ADAM (The Association of Dental Administrators and Managers).
Lisa Bainham, ADAM President, said: “The Dental Awards are a great way to recognise and celebrate individual and team achievements. I, myself, am honoured to have received several accolades during my career in dentistry, and The Dental Awards truly inspire and give you the confidence to become the very best you can in your field. The recognition provides reassurance to your teams and patients of your standards."
Sophie's time management procedures, knowledge of personnel issues and commitment to keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation and management trends were recognised for being outstanding.
Sophie added: "It has been a really difficult time. I am sure that other entrants have found it really hard too.
"The safety of our patients is a number one priority and we are committed to giving the best possible care and service."
Sophie also said that the secret to running a successful dentist is to work with the community.
She said: "We have partnered up with Dementia UK and the team regularly do fundraising events for the chosen charity. Like I said it is not just about me, the team and the people around me are truly amazing."
