The reigning Miss Lancashire has been fast tracked through to the judges shortlist for the forthcoming Miss England finals by winning a new round promoting tourism in her home county.
Jessica Gagen is one of 44 Miss England finalists who have been promoting the areas they live ahead of the competition's final, and the 25-year-old, from Skelmersdale, became a virtual tour guide for the judges promoting the county she grew up in.
The new round, called 'Explore the Nation', saw Jessica record a Zoom presentation and then appear on social media promoting herself and her home town - including cheeky references to Pendle Hill and the Forest of Bowland.
The judges selected Jessica as the winner of this round for her impressive knowledge of the area and her fun personality.
Heather Gaulton who is the current Miss Cheshire came third and Alexandra Taylor, Miss Tameside, second.
The Liverpool University aerospace engineering student and part time model said: "I’m absolutely ecstatic to have won this round and proud to have brought more exposure to my beautiful home county of Lancashire.
"I’m thrilled to have made it to the judges selection in the Miss England final and will be doing my very best to make Lancashire proud on the night.”
As part of the Miss England competition, Jessica has also been raising funds for the Miss World charity, Beauty With a Purpose, by going for her morning run in fancy dress.
So far she has raised £1,170 for the charity which helps disadvantaged children and youngsters.
The final of Miss England will be on Friday August 27 at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Coventry.
The Miss England winner will go forward to the 70th Miss World final in Puerto Rico planned for December 16.
