Frustrated motorists are facing delays on a busy Blackburn road due to work being conducted on a pavement.
A section of the lane at the top of Montague Street at the junction with Preston New Road has been cordoned off. Drivers wanting to head straight into town are forced to wait behind those wishing to turn right on to Montague Street or turn into the EG Petrol station.
Work is being completed on the pavement by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities. However, no workman were on site and a whole lane had been blocked off causing angry drivers to speak out.
A resident of the area told us: “It there any need to close this lane off? This is a vey busy junction and the work is being done on the pavement near to the wall. There is still enough distance between the road and the work area.
“I have also driven past several times in the past two days and yet to see a workman.
“They are doing this a lot and closing whole lanes when there is no need."
A United Utilities spokesperson said: “We have carried out repair work on a pipe, but it can be another few days before we finish filling in the hole and completing the road reinstatement. The work should all be completed later this week and we apologise for any inconvenience in the meantime.”
