IT’S the first weekend in months that pubs in England can reopen without coronavirus restrictions.
Many people will be flocking to their local boozers this weekend, eager to enjoy a restriction free pint.
However, it would be a shame to leave your four-legged friend behind.
Here are 10 East Lancashire pubs that are completely dog friendly:
1. Feliden’s Arms, Mellor Brook, Blackburn
This pub has been very vocal about its dog-friendly atmosphere on Facebook.
Recently, it was announced that the pub will undergo a major investment in 2022 to help create a “fantastic local pub.”
2. The Old Cobblers Inn, Rawtenstall, Rossendale
The team at the Old Cobblers Inn call themselves “dog mad” and are always ready to welcome a pooch into the building.
Posting to Facebook earlier this month, the pub wrote: “ Did you know we are dog friendly?
“These are just a few of our lovely four legged guests.
“Pre warning we are kinda dog mad and they will get lots of love and cuddles from all the team.”
3. The Butlers Arms at Pleasington, Pleasington Lane
The Butlers Arms is a pub and restaurant run by award winning chef Michael Ian Hales in the quiet village of Pleasington.
They often run pet competitions; in 2019 if you brought your dog to the pub you were in with the chance of winning a glass of prosecco.
One of our readers said: “The Butlers Arms at Pleasington allow dogs in the bar area and the beer garden, and at one point had a doggy snack menu.”
A spokesperson for the company said: “We are indeed dog-friendly- In the bar area only or outside of course.”
4. The Parker’s Arms, Newton In Bowland, Clitheroe
The Parkers Arms is known for its adventurous menus and locally sourced food.
The dining room is off-limits to dogs, but they’re more than welcome in the bar area and in the beer garden.
5. The Aspinall Arms, Mitton, Clitheroe
Did you know that the pub has a hydration station for the dogs, lots of treats and even a dog & boot wash, perfect after a long and muddy walk to the pub.
A spokesperson for the pub said: “We have certain rooms that dogs are allowed, so we recommend that you mention when booking that you have a dog, and we will make sure you are in a dog friendly area.”
6. Eagle and Child, Bispham Green
This is a traditional country pub, serving locally sourced food.
In winter, it is a dreamy location as it benefits from wood fire.
According to reviewers, it’s also a very dog-friendly spot.
One person wrote: "Called in here after a lovely dog walk. Made to feel very welcome, as were our two Labradors, even by the pub Collie.”
Another said: “Great food, really friendly service and excellent value for the quality of the food.
“Perfect place to visit especially when you can take the dogs!”
7. The Vault, Union Road, Oswaldtwistle
This quirk micropub and gin bar has a selection of five ales and 80 gins.
They missed their furry customers in lockdown, writing “missing our four legged customers too! Better keep that tin stocked and ready,” back in April 2020.
8. The Spread Eagle, Sawley, Clitheroe
This boozer describes itself as an “unassuming” but “attractive” inn that is nestled in the heart of the Ribble Valley.
The views from the pub are gorgeous- and you can soak them in with your dog at your side.
In 2019, the pub even launched their own doggy three course menu.
9. Darwen Tap, Blackburn Road, Darwen

10. The Clog and Billycock, Billinge End Road, Blackburn
This pub is popular with walkers, families and dog owners who want to stop off on their daily walk for a quick drink.
Furry patrons will be taken care of with a bowl of fresh water possibly some treats.
The pub is also known for hosting the occasional charity dog walk and raising some funds while they are at it.
