Parkrun events across the UK have confirmed they will return after the Government announced that England would proceed to Step 4 of the road map on July 19.

The running event, is a weekly occurrence which takes place each Saturday morning in parks across Britain.

In Lancashire and other parts of England, it will return this Saturday (July 24).

As part of this Framework, all participants and volunteers are required to self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms prior to attending, and not to attend if at all symptomatic.

Local public health advice is that even those without symptoms should make use of free Lateral Flow Device tests where possible, to ensure people aren’t spreading the virus without realising.

Nick Pearson, CEO of parkrun Global, said: “The work of MSO has ensured our much-loved events can return and we invite everyone to take part – join your local parkrun, enter one of the nation’s iconic events and think about raising funds for the charity of your choice.

"We can’t wait to welcome back our parkrun family to 5k events in England on Saturday 24 July.”

 

 

Participants are encouraged to run 5K- but there is no pressure to complete these runs.

You also don’t have to be fit to complete the 5k runs as the range of participants is very broad. 

Amongst the runners you might see people who are blind, wheelchair bound, morbidly obese, disabled, over 80 years old or pushing prams.

On Sunday mornings, there are 2k junior parkruns for children aged four to 14.
