A FAMILY fun day will be held for a popular Blackburn 'man with a van' who is currently battling Covid-19 in hospital.
Brian Lynch, 46, was admitted to intensive care at Royal Blackburn Hospital on 12 July before being put into an induced coma and remains in a critical condition.
His wife, Gina Lynch, contracted the virus at the same time though did not suffer too badly and is recovering at home.
A friend of the couple, Nicky Ashton, is organising a fun day at the Havelock Inn pub in Blackburn - where the couple used to DJ - on August 1 alongside a fundraiser for the couple which has raised nearly £2,000.
She said: "Everybody loves him. He's got a very big battle on his hands at the moment. He's a fighter, his family have been called by the hospital three times to say their goodbyes and he will just not give up. That's the kind of person Brian is.
"They would do anything to help anyone and now it's time for us to give something back. We want to raise enough money so that when Brian is recovering, he won't have any financial worries as a self-employed man.
"The support so far has been amazing and I just want to thank everyone who has contributed."
The fun day will have a children's entertainer, a DJ, a cake stall, live music, the opportunity for the ladies to see their partners 'get waxed' as well as 'Brian style' haircuts.
