You would have to know your local history pretty well to recognise this photograph straight away.
Taken in 1952 it shows the lower lodge or gate house to Woodfold Park.
Situated in the park’s 900 acres near Mellor was Woodfold Hall, at one time arguably the grandest private home in East Lancashire which, originally built in 1798, would become home to members of the Thwaites' family until 1946.
