A SHOP chain has submitted fresh plans for a store in Pendle.
Booths' proposal for a store on the site of Park Mill and the former Pendle Brook House care home, off Gisburn Road, Barrowford, were rejected last January.
But bosses have submitted new plans which attempt to address the fears over traffic congestion which prompted councillors to throw out the scheme.
The revised proposal reduces the size of the store from 13,000 to 10,000sq ft and includes additional short-stay parking.
It also asks for 125 car parking spaces on the White Bear car park and Pendle Brook site.
The potential site of the two-storey store has also been switched, with it being on Park Mill and the car park on Pendle Brook House.
It was the other way around in the initial plans.
Through these changes, Booths bosses are attempting to allay the fears of residents in John Street, who objected because they felt the store would have blocked their view. Council officers recommend that the plans be approved.
The area's parish council has also given its backing to the revised plans, to go before the Barrowford and Western Parishes committee on January 10.
Parish Council clerk Iain Lord said: "We had concerns over the original application with regards to traffic but we support this.
"It is more of a large convenience store than a supermarket this time.
"There are radical changes in the positioning and the building will not be as prominent as it was in the previous application.
They have also addressed concerns over Barrowford traffic problems with the increased parking spaces."
Last time, residents wrote more than 100 letters of objection, launched an online protest and handed in a 300-page petition against the plans.
They said there would be increased traffic, loss of on-street parking and problems for smaller businesses.
