A NEW campaign urging people to have a smoke alarm fitted on every floor of their house is set to get underway.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue is backing the government's 'Push Your Button! Not Your Luck' campaign by offering free home visits to residents to identify potential fire risks.
They will also give advice on how to prevent fires, and what to do if the worst happens and there is a fire.
The home fire safety checks also include Lancashire firefighters fitting 10-year smoke alarms for free.
The 10-year smoke alarms still need to be tested weekly, but they do not need new batteries every year, unlike conventional smoke alarms which need new batteries annually.
To book a free home fire safety check, call 0800 169 1125 to arrange a visit.
