THE owner of a volunteer cat rescue service has thanked everyone who has made a donation over the festive period.
Late last year Maureen Savage, of Moggies Cat Rescue based in Stansfield Street, Darwen, appealed to people for donations of cat or kitten food and litter.
She has been inundated with telephone calls and donations most evenings over the last few weeks.
Maureen said she had had more cats in her care this year than other years and was in need of help to get through the winter.
She was looking after four cats and 15 kittens.
To tackle the increasing numbers of cats and kittens over the next 12 months Maureen had also been offering a free neutering service to cat and kitten owners.
She said: "The whole of my Christmas evenings were spent answering the phone and the door to people.
"The response has been brilliant. I would like to thank everyone who made a donation to the cat rescue."
To offer additional support, contact Maureen any evening on 01254 708171.
