A planning application for Darwen's new leisure centre is expected early in 2008.
The £12.7million, two-storey leisure centre will include a swimming pool, a gym and a cafe.
Once an application has been submitted the plans will go before the council's planning committee.
Once, as expected, permsision is granted, demolition work on the site will begin, with the new centre set to open in late 2009.
