A drink driver almost wiped out a fuel station on a motorway services before trying to run from police.
The incident happened at the Charnock Richard services on the southbound carriageway of the M6 in the very early hours of Friday morning.
Police were called to the services after receiving reports that a drink driver has smashed into several barriers very close to the fuel tanks on the petrol station forecourt.
The driver exited the vehicle before running from the scene but was caught by police in a field.
The services were closed for several hours while police and highways dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We are currently dealing with an incident at the Charnock Richard Services on the M6 Southbound
"The filling station at Charnock Richard Services is being closed for the next few hours.
"We will provide an update once it is reopen.
"Thank you for your patience."
