THE Halo sculpture is the place which makes Rossendale residents feel most proud of their home area, according to the results of an online poll.
The 21st century landmark designed by John Kennedy of LandLab, is an 18m-diameter steel lattice sculpture supported on a truncated tripod five metres above the newly landscaped ground at Top o' Slate, above Haslingden.
It received 104 votes.
East Lancashire Railway and Healey Dell Nature Reserve came in second and third spots with 88 and 42 votes respectively.
Rossendale Borough Council took part in the 'Pride of Place poll' by inviting visitors to click and vote for one of ten locally-nominated top spots on its website at www.rossendale.gov.uk.
Nationally, more than 36,000 people went online to vote for their favourite place in this first national council-led poll.
