AFTER 14 months of closure, Darwen Library Theatre will welcome back audiences this weekend, beginning with a sold out show on Friday night.

The re-opening will see singer-songwriter and Amsterdam frontman Ian Prowse, previously of indie cult band Pele, headline on Friday evening.

Saturday will welcome the return of Darwen Comedy Club, with a special line-up comprised of some of the best stand-up comedians in the country.

Rebecca Weaver, programming and marketing manager at the theatre, said: "We can’t wait to welcome audiences back to Darwen Library Theatre.

"To be able to hear music and laugh along at the comedy club will be an exhilarating and emotional time for everyone.

"The local community has really rallied round whilst the theatre has been closed and supported us in so many ways.

"From our fundraising campaigns to their understanding when show dates had to be changed. We cannot thank them enough.

"The whole team are very excited to see our customers again and bring life back to the theatre."

The theatre currently has limited capacity to allow for social distancing and a whole range of safety measures are in place to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable trip back to live events.

A few tickets are still available for Saturday nights comedy club and customers are reminded that all tickets must be pre-purchased online.

Darwen Library has a great line-up of shows ready with their usual mix of music, comedy and family events.
