Five of the six East Lancashire boroughs are now in the top ten for the worst infection rates in the country.
All the boroughs, except Pendle, are now experiencing some of the worst infection rates in the country, however all six boroughs are recording a rate of over 100 cases per 100,000.
Blackburn with Darwen remains the worst place to be affected with a rate of 436.2 per 100,000 – up from 314.0 last week.
Rossendale has also seen a leap in infection rate from 138.5 on May 22 to 312.0 in the latest figures which reflect cases recorded up to May 29.
Hyndburn has recorded a rate of 196.2 while Ribble Valley is at 151.1 and Burnley at 126.0 – putting all of these areas into the top 10.
Pendle is 14th in the list with an infection rate of 101 cases per 100,000.
Other areas of the county have also seen a rise in infection rates including Preston, South Ribble Fylde and Chorley.
Data for the most recent four days (May 30-June 2) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
Of the 315 local areas in England, 213 (68 per cent) have seen a rise in rates, 92 (29 per cent) have seen a fall and 10 are unchanged.
