FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze which took place across three business premises.

Six crews and an aerial ladder platform attended to the fire, which involved commercial premises on Jacob Street in Accrington

The fire broke out on Sunday evening. 

Crews, who used several jets in a bid to extinguish the fire, remained at the scene into the early hours of Monday morning. 

Those living in the area were urged to keep their windows and doors closed as plumes of smoke spread over the town and roads inn the area were closed off as crews dealt with the fire.

A spokesman said: “Six fire crews and an aerial ladder platform are in attendance at a fire involving a commercial premises on Jacob Street in Accrington. The fire is involving three commercial premises and was well alight when fire crews arrived.

“They are currently tackling the fire using seven main jets and the aerial ladder platform. There are some road closures in place in the locality to allow firefighters to work and there is currently significant smoke being produced by the fire.

“People living near the incident are being advised to close any windows and doors as a precaution to avoid the smoke.”
