Adults in East Lancashire who are looking to achieve a high-quality degree on their doorstep now have the opportunity, thanks to a new range of university level courses offered by Nelson and Colne College Group University Centre.

The newly-launched offer is for students who will start in September 2021, and study options will be available at two campuses – Nelson and Colne College and Accrington and Rossendale College.

University level qualifications are well-known for supporting career progression and boosting earning potential, and these new courses include opportunities for adults in East Lancashire to retrain and upskill to future-proof their chosen career pathways.

Nelson and Colne College Group’s University Centre qualifications have the added quality of being designed and shaped by employers and industry partners and so they are relevant to the current and future economic needs of the region.

Qualifications are also awarded by renowned university partners Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Huddersfield, the University of Cumbria, and the University of Bolton.

The new wide range of courses cover study areas including:

  • Business, Finance and Law
  • Computing
  • Construction
  • Early Years and Education
  • Engineering
  • Health and Social Sciences
  • Sport

There are also options to study the Foundation Diploma in Art and Degree Level Apprenticeships, as well as Access to HE courses for those looking to progress into Higher Education.

Adults looking to study HE flexibly, affordably, and locally will have the chance to speak in-person to the University Centre’s expert lecturers during their on-site Adult and HE Advice Events.

The first of these will take place at Accrington and Rossendale College on Wednesday 30 June, from 4pm until 7.30pm. The second, will take place on Monday 5 July at Nelson and Colne College, from 4pm until 7.30pm.
