Uzma Khan of the Fours Seasons Walking Club shares five great walks you might want to head out on to this weekend.

1. Hoghton Bottoms
A good 7 mile walk if you're starting from Blackburn Billinge End Road, though Jeffery wWoods and Nabs head. You'll get everything from this walk from on road walking, field walking, woodlands and of course the main attraction the Hoghton waterfalls! A must if you like finding hidden treasures.

2. Windmills
These windmills can be seen from Yew Tree Drive, Blackburn and from most parts of Blackburn hence why it needs to be done. You'll meet so many lovely farm animals along the way; if going in winter be sure to have appropriate footwear. Starting from Haslingden Rd, walking though some farm land so good footwear is ideal, a circular 8 miles hike.

3. Halo
This quirky flying saucer is a lovely 4 mile walk with mesmerising views. You can take a few routes to the sculpture starting from Rawtenstall, a moderate circular walk with the views from the top overlooking Blackburn and all surrounding areas. A good family walk and at night with the LED lights it looks like a space ship!

4. Ribchester
A great relaxing walk starting from Marles Woods over the Ribchester Bridge; walk along the Ribble River to the bridge pictured. On quiet days you could have the little beachy area to yourself.

5. Darwen Tower
You can never go wrong with a hike up to the Jubilee tower. Can make a good family day out or as a challenge to yourself. So many routes available and would definitely recommend taking the Sunnyhurst woods route; walking past the reservoirs Earnsdale and Sunnyhurst hey. Nicely paved paths all the way. Nice 5 mile hike.

Before starting any walk be sure to be fully prepared for the day ahead, the weather can change mid-way so always check weather before and be prepared.
