Police are appealing for witnesses after a road rage attack off the M55.

At around 6.55pm on Sunday, officers were called to Fleetwood Road, close to junction three of the M55, after receiving reports that a man had been attacked.

The man reported he had been driving a blue Ford Focus eastbound when the driver of a grey Volkswagen Polo cut across his vehicle.

It was alleged by the man that the Polo driver continued to drive alongside and cut across the Ford, before both drivers left the motorway at junction three.

The Polo driver then stopped his vehicle, blocking in the victim’s car, with a man getting out and punching the driver of the Ford.

The offender then got back into the Polo before leaving the scene, with the victim needing hospital treatment.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone who saw the attack to come forward.

PC Tina Hinchliffe, said: “This was a nasty and violent assault which has left the victim very shaken and upset.

“This is a busy junction and I believe a number of people would have seen what happened, particularly with the Ford being blocked in.

“Please contact us if you can help."
