A DISQUALIFIED driver was wearing football boots while reaching speeds of 130mph.
Officers dealt with the man in Burnley on Tuesday evening, after he was also spotted driving through two sets of red lights.
His Mercedes has been seized and he has been reported for the offences.
A police spokesman said: “At around 9.10pm on May 25, a liveried BMW was travelling along the M65 in the direction of Burnley when they noticed a Mercedes AMG 63 driving along at over 130mph.
“It only slowed to come off at the junction where it exited the motorway or when it was caught up in traffic.
“It then drove through two sets of red lights at the motorway slip road and It was followed at a distance to prevent a pursuit.
“Tactics were being put into place to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop and while this was being developed the vehicle stopped on a residential street in Burnley.
“The driver was detained and initially provided false details.
“Once out of his vehicle the driver was noticed to be wearing studded football boots.
“His real details were established he was found to be a disqualified driver from Dec 2020. The driver claimed to be taking it for a test drive.”
The man was reported for driving while not in proper control of a vehicle, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, excess speed of 100mph and failing to stop at a red light.
