A DRIVER who led police on a high speed pursuit in a stolen car has been arrested.
Officers from Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations Unit were involved in the incident overnight, which ended when a stinger device was deployed to bring the vehicle to a stop.
It later transpired that the high-performance car had been stolen from the Cheshire area.
A TacOps spokesman said: “Vehicle sighted in Lancashire at high speed Seen again on the M6. Managed to ‘sting’ one of the tyres.
“A pursuit ensued until the driver lost control on the M65 and was detained. Enquiries found it to be stolen in Cheshire.”
Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods also commented, saying: “Another great overnight arrest involving our specialist Tactical Operations pursuit capability, skilled control room channel BD & Ormskirk Police looking after the Lancashire Police borders overnight.
“High performance vehicle stolen in Cheshire - stung, pursuit tactics & one arrested.”
