SEVEN people have been arrested and over £10,000 in cash seized after an anti-drugs 'week of action.'

The arrests took place in Chorley as part of a nationally recognised crackdown on county lines drug crime, known locally as 'Operation Hawk.'

Of the seven arrests made over the course of the week, five were for possession with intent to supply drugs and money laundering.

A police spokesperson said: "There were also 22 stop searches, six house searches and seven cars seized as part of the operation.

"In addition to this over £10,000 in cash was seized.

"Two suspects have been released under investigation, two suspects have been charged with possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and money laundering.

"They are both currently remanded in custody. 2 suspects have been charged with disqualified driving.

"One suspect attended court for the fail to appear warrant.

"This was a hugely successful operation where we have taken some dangerous substances off the streets and taken robust action against those involved."

Last week was a nationally recognised “County Lines” week of action. Our local operation was intelligence led organised by Detective Sergeant Duckworth and involved plain clothes and uniformed officers from various departments. The operation was locally named as “Op Hawk” 7 arrests were made over recent course of the week (5 for Possession with intent to supply drugs & money laundering). There were also 22 stop searches, 6 house searches and 7 cars seized as part of the Operation. In addition to this over £10,000 in cash was seized. 2 suspects have been released under investigation. 2 suspects have been charged with possession with intent to supply class A & B drugs and money laundering. They are both currently remanded in custody. 2 suspects have been charged with disqualified driving. 1 suspect attended court for the Fail to Appear warrant.
