With the reopening of indoor hospitality this week, it might be worth looking at which areas you can get more bang for your buck in terms of the price of a pint.
Surprisingly, Blackburn with Darwen is in the top 10 list of cheapest places in the whole country where you can get a pint of draught beer, and is also the cheapest place in the whole of Lancashire.
Data compiled by investment website, money.co.uk, looking at individual towns and cities to figure out where people could get a pint for less, revealed that Blackburn with Darwen was the fourth cheapest in the country, with the price of a pint costing on average a mere £2.30.
Barrow-in-Furness, Salford and Stockport were the only other areas in the North West where the price of a pint cost less than £2.90 on average.
The Shropshire town of Telford is the place with the cheapest average cost of a pint, at just £2.00 - £3 less than London, which was unsurprisingly found to be the most expensive city for a pint.
Telford was closely followed by Hartlepool, where a pint will only set punters back £2.05, and Scarborough, where an average pint costs £2.10
A spokesperson for money.co.uk said: "By looking across the biggest towns and cities in the country we have been able to rank which places offer a pint of beer for the cheapest average price.
"Unsurprisingly the most expensive place for a pint in the country is the capital. In London it costs on average £5 for a beer, and in many central areas of the city it is far more than this."
This means that you could buy around two pints in Blackburn with Darwen for the same price that Londeners will pay for one.
Outside of the capital city, the most expensive place for a pint is the cathedral city of Canterbury in Kent where the average price of a pint of beer is £4.80.
Just behind Canterbury, is Cambridge where the average pint costs £4.65.
In order to map the data, money.co.uk used Numbeo data for each individual town and city on the list to discover which areas on the list they had established for the concentration of pubs had the cheapest average cost of a ‘draught domestic beer’.
Here are the top areas with the cheapest pints in the country:
1 Telford £2.00
2 Hartlepool £2.05
3 Scarborough £2.10
4 Blackburn with Darwen £2.30
4 Salford £2.30
4 Stirling £2.30
4 Stockport £2.30
8 Stevenage £2.50
9 Barrow-in-Furness £2.75
