A MUM woke up being punched about the head by her son.

Blackburn magistrates heard in the course of the attack, which his mum described as a mental health crisis, Jack Lowe-Sissons stood on her neck and dragged her around the floor.

When police arrived she was sitting in her car wearing nothing but a towel.

"She was distraught," said Janice Vallance, prosecuting.

"She said his medication had been changed and he had become more aggressive. She thinks he blames her for his problems."

Lowe-Sissons, 19, of Wilkie Avenue, Burnley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Denise Lowe-Sanderson causing her actual bodily harm. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Janice Vallance, prosecuting, said police received a call from Mrs Lowe-Sanderson saying her son was having a mental health crisis and was being violent.

"She had woken up being punched by the defendant," said Miss Vallance.

"When the police arrived she was sitting in her car wearing nothing but a towel."

Sean Finnegan, defending, said his client was extremely remorseful.

"When I read the statements to him he was in tears," said Mr Finnegan.

He said his client had changed his medication for ADHD and things had been building up at home.

"For some reason he has taken his anger out on his mother," said Mr Finnegan.

"His mother has not co-operated with the prosecution but to his credit he has held his hand up and pleaded guilty."

Mr Finnegan said his client had spent two nights at HMP Preston and had been pressured to join a gang and to start taking drugs.

"He should not be in that environment," said Mr Finnegan.

"His mental health issues may go some way to explaining why a young man with no previous conviction should behave in this way."
