Two huge new music festivals are coming to East Lancashire this August.
After more than a year of disappointment, with cancellations and postponements of events due to Covid, the guys from Manchester-based JBM Music are excited to announce two massive music festivals, which will be held in Burnley's Towneley Park over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The day-only festivals will be aimed at two completely different audiences, but organiser Harrison O'Brien says he expects there to be some cross-over as eager music fans and gig goers make a break for freedom to enjoy outdoor events again after more than a year of festival deprivation.
Mr O'Brien, from Manchester said: "We've organised two festivals both on the same weekend. On the Saturday it will be Retro In The Park, so retro dance music from the 80s and 90s and then on the Sunday we have Wile Out which we think will attract a much younger audience as there's artists such as Joel Corry and Sigma on the line-up."
On Saturday August 28, Retro In The Park will feature more than 20 artists and DJs from the 90s house music era, with the likes of Roger Sanchez, Graeme Park and Tall Paul playing in arena one; N-Trance, K-Klass, Alex Party, JX and Happy Clappers in arena two, and Rob Tissera and Matt Bell in arena three.
And on Sunday August 29, Wile Out will see Sigma, Joel Corry, DJ Luck and MC Neat, Artful Dodger, DJ EZ, Mista Jam and many more grace the stages in Burnley's largest park.
Mr O'Brien added: "We thought Burnley would be a really good place to put a music festival on, as there didn't appear to be that much going on in the town, and Towneley Park itself is great.
"We started working with the guys from Retro (The UKs largest house classics event), who are from the area, and thought we could bring in another type of audience and a different type of crowd.
"We've already sold around three quarters of the tickets for Wile Out, and Retro In The Park is down to the last hundred or so.
"People are buzzing to get back to festivals, everyone is just wanting to get back out there and with summer coming, it's going to be an incredible weekend."
Mr O'Brien said the positive news around the coronavirus vaccine rollout and the fact Boris Johnson is ploughing ahead with the easing of restrictions as planned, means there will be no need for social distancing at the festivals, which both have a 5,000 person capacity.
He continued: "Of course, we will keep an eye on what happens with Covid and will be able to regulate any possible restrictions, but the park can hold a lot more than 5,000 people so we should be ok - we're outside and the field is massive and we can easily put relevant safety aspects in place should they be needed.
"We honestly can't wait. We just want to give people the best day and night they've had in a long time.
"The council have been amazing with us too and if it's a success, which we think it will be, we'll be hoping to return next year on a bigger scale."
