Detectives are appealing for information to help identify the man in the CCTV image after a shop worker was threatened with a machete.
Police were called around 10.40pm on February 14 to reports of an incident at Tesco in Leyland Lane.
A man had entered the store carrying a machete before approaching a staff member behind the counter.
He held the machete towards the worker and demanded they emptied two tills containing money into a carrier bag.
The offender then apologised for scaring the victim before running away from the scene.
Following CCTV enquiries police want to speak to the man, pictured, in connection with the offence.
Det Con Laura Thornley, of Chorley Police, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim which left them very shaken and upset.
“We have released CCTV images of the suspect in the hope someone will recognise him.
“I would encourage anyone with information about this to come forward.”
If you can help police call 101 or email 58@lancashire.police.uk quoting log 1239 of February 14.
