A MAN suffered a serious head injury after he was attacked with a sword', according to emergency services.
The 25-year-old victim, who was attacked in Clitheroe Road, Brierfield on Saturday at 11.20pm, was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Police have arrested two men in connection with the incident.
Police said inquiries into the attack were ongoing but that it was not as serious as they initially thought.
A police spokesperson said: "At 11.26pm hours the ambulance services called us and reported an assault on a 25-year-old male in Brierfield, Nelson, who had sustained wounds to the head and was conveyed to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
"Two males being arrested for the assault.
"It is not as serious as initially thought and we are in the process of establishing exactly what happened."
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "He had serious bleeding to his head but the injuries were not life threatening."
