A DRUNKEN man jumped on the roof and bonnet of a car to show off to his friends.
But magistrates told Matthew William Tanti his act of bravado was going to prove expensive.
Tanti, 22, of Simonstone Road, Sabden, pleaded guilty to causing £782 worth of damage to a car belonging to Michael Walker. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £782 compensation and £110 costs.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said a neighbour of Mr Walker looked out of his living room window at 1.20am to see Tanti climb onto the roof of a Mitsubishi Gallant, run across it and jump on the bonnet.
"There were other people who were watching what he was doing and laughing," said Miss Allan.
Tanti then jumped onto the neighbour's car then slipped and fell. Footwear impressions and fingerprints implicated Tanti in the offence.
Simon Farnsworth, defending, said Tanti and friends were on their way back to a local beauty spot where they were camping out.
"He thought he would impress the ladies," said Mr Farnsworth. "With hindsight he realises it was stupid."
