A woman is in hospital with life threatening injuries after she was hit by a van and became trapped underneath it.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers were called to Fishergate Hill in Preston, at 12.36pm on Tuesday, following reports that a woman in her 50s had been struck by a reversing Renault Master high top van.
She was temporarily trapped underneath the vehicle.
The woman, who is from Preston, suffered serious injuries to her back and pelvis and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she remains.
The driver of the van – a man in his 60s – remained at the scene and was not injured in the collision.
No arrest has been made and officers are appealing for anyone with information, dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to get in touch.
Sgt Martin Wilcock, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Tactical Operations, said: “This collision has left a woman with life-threatening injuries and first and foremost my thoughts are with her and her family at this difficult time.
“We are now working to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would ask anybody who can assist to get in touch.”
