THE family of a little girl who was left severely injured after a road accident is celebrating after being told she is likely to make a full recovery.

Aysha Rasool, three, of Lune Street, Colne, suffered a broken skull and suspected brain damage when she was in collision with the motorcycle in Midgeley Street in August.

Four months on, the three-year-old is running around and attending nursery in the afternoons after making a remarkable recovery.

Initially doctors warned the extent of the damage to her brain remained unknown but things started looking up when she was allowed home for Eid in October.

Her dad, Asif Rasool, said the family are looking forward to the New Year now that Aysha, who has been receiving regular physiotherapy sessions, is home.

He said: "She is up and running about. She is back to normal and attending nursery in the afternoons.

"She has been getting physiotherapy and help from a psychologist "Her speech is a bit slurred sometimes but this will improve with time. We are just so happy she is getting better."

Aysha spent two weeks in intensive care before being transferred to the high dependency unit at the start of September.

Doctors also told Aysha's parents she would need months of care and rehabilitation before she can return home.

Mr Rasool, who is a call centre manager, said: "It looks like she will be making a full recovery.

" She has done a thousand times better than the doctors expected. They said she might have brain damage but she is making a remarkable recovery day by day.

"We can look forward to starting afresh in the new year."

The accident happened when Aysha while she was on her way to the park with her sisters and 15-year-old cousin.

The Crown Prosecution Service is currently considering whether to charge an 18-year-old male from Trawden with offences in relation to the incident.
