Many residents attended the Council Planning Committee meeting on 12th Dec to object about the application to develop the green fields adjacent to Lowergate and Peter Grime Row which would have resulted in losing yet more Green Belt Land.
Reid Lewis, Ian McCann and Cllr Paul Gott each delivered presentations in opposition on behalf of CPRE, Huncoat Voice and the Residents of Huncoat. This was in addition to 103 letters of opposition and a petition with 645 signatures on it having been submitted prior to the meeting.
The Committee voted against the application as the development would have to use green belt land to access it and this is against the local policies.
A cheer went up from the audience when the vote was taken and a huge sigh of relief was breathed by the many whose homes and lives this would have severely affected.
