A DRUNKARD who attacked his pregnant girlfriend, headbutting her after a cider and vodka session, has been jailed for 120 days.
Burnley magistrates had earlier been told how Benjamin Barnes, 22, who has assaulted Lesley Edwards before and was on a community order, punched her repeatedly, knocking her to the floor.
Miss Edwards managed to get to her feet and the defendant pushed the sofa towards her and flipped it in the air at her.
The court was told a friend, who had just arrived at the house, shouted :"What are you doing ? She's pregnant."
The defendant, said to have drunk three litres of cider and vodka, was later found hiding in a cupboard at his mother's home by police and kicked out at officers.
Barnes, of Woodland Avenue, Bacup, had admitted assault by beating and resisting police on November 18.
